We also secure our workforce through a Federal program called the H2A program. The H2A program is also known as the Guest Worker program. The H2A program allows our farm to secure a legal workforce directly from Mexico. The cost of each workers travel to our farm and their return travel to Mexico, housing, and Worker's Compensation is paid directly by Patterson Farm, Inc. These workers are issued a VISA to work for a specified period of time to work directly on our farm. The Federal Government in conjunction with the Mexican Consulate screens all H2A workers before they are allowed entry to the United States. Once their work contract with Patterson Farm, Inc. is completed, the worker returns to Mexico. H2A workers can not apply for or receive any government benefits such as Unemployment, Social Security, or assistance from the local Health Departments or Department of Social Services.
